I'm not saying everyone here has been overly optimistic about our chances for next year's election but most of us have (with good reason I'd add) been looking forward to 2008. And I count myself as one of those who has been on the overly optimistic side at times. With Bush's subfreezing popularity, the continued disaster in Iraq, sky high gas prices, a shaky economy, who wouldn't feel good about our prospects?
But still, if past experience is any guide, we can't take anything for granted. Case in point, yesterday's Louisiana governor's election.
